Investigative journalist Domagoj Margetić wrote pubic letter to the Prime Minister

ZAGREB, August 2, 2017. – Investigative journalist Domagoj Margetić sent public letter to the Prime Minister Andrej Plenković stating that during burglary of his apartment his laptop and disc with documents had been stolen. He puts the question to the Prime Minister if HDZ (Croatian Democratic Union) was behind that and even behind attempt on his life in 2014.

''This morning (Wednesday, August 2, 2017), John Doe entered (again!!!) my apartment in the center of Zagreb while I was not present and stole my laptop again (being a journalist t is my working tool I am unable to buy again at the moment!), hard disc (1 terabyte) with documents and story I had been investigating and USB memory keys (6 or 7). Beside that John Doe stole my valet with certain documents and money meant for more or less normal life in next few months“, Margetić wrote.

“Up till now I have survived attempt on my life (August 11,), attacks on my physical integrity and numerous threats. That you can easily verify in the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Just few cases were solved and had been brought to court. Very differently from threats made against politicians - people who threatened me by deaths threats have not been apprehended nor suffered any other consequence.

As it is evident that the aim of that burglary was not simple robbery but getting documents about stories I was working on and my working tools. And as stories might be sensitive for current authorities, I feel I have reasons to put the question: Are HDZ and the State behind today's burglary? Are HDZ and the State behind attempt on my life?'', Margetić said in the open letter to the Prime Minister.

Zagreb Police confirmed to Hina that on Wednesday a report about the burglary was filed at Medveščak Police Station.
