Sanja Mikleušević Pavić, president of CJA Branch at the HRT, reminded participants that in mandate of the current (new) management more than 70 editors and journalists were removed from their job positions without any valuable arguments.
„That those changes have not been based on arguments one can see from the fact that even head of camera crew Siniša Galar has been removed from his position. Or Danijela Draštata, who was head of minority editorial board without any official objection ever.“
She also drew attention to the fact that most of leading positions have been taken by heads or members of the Croatian Journalists and Publicists Association (HNiP).
„In last 20 years it did not happen that acting management carried out such personnel, program and production cleansing“, she said adding that program has been devastated and dialogue with the management impossible for the moment.
Reasons for his dismissal have not been given to Boris Postnikov, co-author at Third Radio Program.
„I did not get any explanation, but reason is very clear. It is about attempt to change culture and media paradigm by right-wing cultural and media policy. It resulted in serial of disasters. When that attempt to change paradigm ends, we will have kind of zombies lurching around public space, promoting powerless kind of policy“, said Postnikov.
We got the „preview“ of society HDZ wants
There is no dialogue with management, but there is no influence on program by people who should have it according to law, for example members of the HRT Program Council, said its member Saša Milošević.
„I have been Council member for one year and I might say that former management was hypocritical but very polite. We could talk to them, they understood what we said, but nothing happened. This change might be even for the better. Management ignores us openly and even threatens us sometimes. It might be good news that we hit the ground and we cannot but to go up“, he said.
Milošević sees the situation as an opportunity to finally make legal framework to transform HRT into serious public service and prevent those „revolutionary“ changes that are not appropriate for liberal democracy.
Tvrtko Jakovina, a historian and one of HRT co-authors that have been dismissed, said that Third Radio and TV programs were extremely important because of pluralism of media content in spite of low rate.
He sees cleansing at the HRT as a part of former Government revisionist plan. „We now have a preview how new society might look like if the same policy came to power again. I think the orientation is towards totalitarian, anti-intellectual, small and retarded society.“
Dražen Miočić, acting HRT program manager and Nevenka Dujmović, acting editor in chief at Third Radio Program were invited too. They did not attend due to job obligations, as they explained it.
