CJA calls for attention to the fact that by ending the program of granting non-profit media the Ministry of Culture is leaving 280 journalists without any income; 20 non-profit media is facing uncertain future

By ending program of grants to non-profit media the Ministry of Culture, that has helped the third media sector to become stronger in last three years, left without any income 280 journalists by the end of September. The future of 20 non-profit media with 30 journalists employed and 250 journalists employed on part time bases has become uncertain.


CJA strongly condemns latest death threats and calls for violence against journalists

Journalist Ema Branica was threatened by a person who was part of the story in Nova TV show „Provjereno“ (Confirmed). As he was not satisfied by his treatment in the story, he sent the message to the journalist she would end like late Ivo Pukanić, who was killed some years ago in front of his publishing house. That threat is clearly a death treat. „Provjereno“ crew last week broadcasted story about the man who pretended to be female to becharm old and demented male to seize their properties.


Siniša Kovačić threatens to dismiss Sanja Mikleušević Pavić and Mirna Zidarić and prepares HRT Ethical Codex changes to replace current members of Ethical Council

CJA strongly condemns decision of acting HRT general manager Siniša Kovačić to punish Sanja Mikleušević Pavić, president of CJA Branch at HRT, for „verbal offence“ by pre-dismissal note and start the procedure to dismiss Mirna Zidarić, president of HRT Ethical Council. CJA also condemns decision to make changes in HRT Ethical Codex by the end of September just to have possibility to replace its current members.

CJA condemns insults against journalists Zdenko Duka at HDZ pre-election meeting

During pre-election meeting in Zagreb, on Thursday, September 8, Zdenko Duka, journalists and former CJA president, was reputedly verbally attacked by some participants of the meeting. Zdenko Duka attended the meeting in capacity of daily Novi list reporter.

Saša Leković, CJA president, laid wreaths at the site of journalists killed in 1991 at Hrvatska Kostajnica region. He also supported the idea to commemorate all journalists killed in the Homeland War and called once more the relevant institutions to find and punish assassins of war reporters.
